BBQ and Ice Cream social

2020-08-24T11:10:44-04:00

Our residents are some of the happiest, cheeriest, sweetest people we know. Which is why we had such a sweet time yesterday, celebrating our wonderful residents and the joy and happiness they bring to our home with a BBQ and ice cream social!

Thanks to Peter from Toronto Softee Ice Cream Truck, residents got to enjoy a frozen treat, while enjoying the summer weather and the company of fellow residents and staff.

It was also a wonderful way for our staff to show our appreciation for each and every one of our residents, and to celebrate their resilience and perseverance over the past few months.

Residents were each gifted a Superman or Wonder Woman shirt with Coronovirus Superhero on it, recognizing them as a superhero throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only have our residents supported each other, but they’ve also been a constant source of strength for our staff, reminding us each and every day why we love our jobs so much.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone for making this such a memorable day, and we are looking forward to many more celebrations together.

Pen Pal Program and Lunch Club update

2020-07-30T11:14:06-04:00

In the 14 days since we launched the Pen Pal Program, our residents have received more than 40 letters, and our staff have taken great joy in spending time with them, reading the stories and words of kindness together.

Letters have come from not only our local community, but as far away as Quebec and Nova Scotia! We’ve even received letters from friends as young as six.

We are inspired by and grateful to everyone who has reached out through the written word, and we hope you will be patient as we work to respond to this tremendous outpouring of love.

We are also very excited to share with our families that we have relaunched our lunch club, and residents have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy a meal in a safe, physically distanced setting with their friends within the home.

Our first meal, held on July 10th, was catered by Champ Burger, and last Friday’s meal was supplied by Guest Wok in Orangeville.

We are planning to host our next luncheon the week of August 10th, and we look forward to another wonderful afternoon with good food, good friends and good conversation.

July 10th Update

2020-07-28T11:52:20-04:00

With the weather continuing to be warm and sunny, many of our residents are enjoying the outdoors, especially with our new wheelchair swing now installed. Residents have immensely enjoyed it, and we’ve been delighted to see the joy and smiles on their faces as a result of this relaxing activity.

We’ve also made some changes to our courtyard to freshen things up, including new mulch and flowers. An ongoing project, we are confident that residents and families will enjoy the refreshed space as they continue to enjoy their visits and time together.

Lastly, we are pleased to share with you that we have a new Behavioural Support Lead, who will provide mental health support within the home.

We’d also like to ask everyone to join us in welcoming Jonathan DeWitte back to our team in his role as a nurse practitioner. Many of our families and residents will remember Jonathan from his previous time with our home.

We look forward to continuing to support our families and residents.
